what is 7 saum brass

7 SAUM brass refers to the cartridge casing specifically designed for the 7mm Short Action Ultra Mag (SAUM) rifle cartridge.

This brass serves as the foundation for reloading ammunition for firearms chambered in 7mm SAUM.

The 7mm SAUM cartridge offers shooters a balance of power and versatility.

It is known for its excellent long-range performance, flat trajectory, and manageable recoil.

To harness the full potential of this cartridge, reloaders turn to 7 SAUM brass to create custom loads

tailored to their specific shooting needs.

ADG 7 SAUM (Short Action Ultra Mag) brass was designed not only for consistency, but for durability.

One of the ways ADG accomplished this was adding material to the case in specific areas to strengthen it.

With the additional material, ADG brass is heavier than most other manufacturers brass

and therefore will require lower charge weights to achieve the same pressures and velocities due to

the reduced volume inside the brass. ADG recommmends using a reputable load data source and

working up from their recommended minimum starting loads.

Failure to reduce charge weights established using other manufacturers brass will

likely result in higher pressures and velocities while using ADG 7 SAUM brass and may result in unsafe pressure levels.

Ships in its own hard, flip top case.

You may take out the foam insert used to protect the brass during shipment and use the box to transport loaded rounds to the range.

All brass is tracked with a custom lot number for quality control which is located on the underside of the box.

  • Caliber- 7mm

7 saum brass preparation:

With bulk rifle 7 saum  brass you may sometimes notice a few case mouths are “out of round” or slightly dented below the shoulder.

These imperfections occur in the final tumbling wash operation after the case mouth has been annealed.

Brass manufacturers are aware of the case cosmetics and have worked to mitigate it, but due to equipment design, denting may still occur.

Minor dents are normally removed in the first firing and will not affect case life or performance.

On non-plated brass, you may also notice all the anneal stain might not be polished off, which may give the case neck a pinkish color.

With some smaller caliber cases you may notice the case mouths to be slightly belled.

With all new rifle brass, you should first straighten out the case and case mouth, then chamfer and debur the case mouth inside and out.

To straighten the case mouth, run the case part way into the sizer die and let the expander ball straighten the brass.

To prevent the case neck from stretching, be sure to lubricate the case neck inside the case mouth.

Norma is known around the world for making very high quality precision components.

Brass is an often overlooked, yet extremely important part of the rifle cartridge.

The case neck is annealed to become softer

. This mitigates gas leaks and makes for a case that will last for a very long time.

Underneath the neck/shoulder the case is not annealed.

This is because the much softer annealed portion of the case would stretch and not last very long.

The picture below shows the different harnesses of the case.

The case head and primer pocket are nearly twice as hard as the neck.

At the annealing, small grains become bigger and the hardness decreases.

History of 7 SAUM Brass

The 7 SAUM (Short Action Ultra Magnum) brass was introduced in 2005 by Remington Arms Company.

It was designed to be a high-performance cartridge that could be used for both long-range hunting and competition shooting.

The cartridge is based on the .404 Jeffery case, which has been shortened and necked down to fit .284 bullets.

The 7 SAUM was specifically designed for short action rifles and was intended to provide a flatter trajectory, reduced recoil,

and improved accuracy compared to other cartridges.

Performance Characteristics

7 SAUM brass has a variety of performance characteristics that make it an attractive choice for long-range shooters.

One of the main benefits of the 7 SAUM is its ability to maintain a high level of accuracy over long distances.

The cartridge has a high ballistic coefficient, which allows it to maintain its velocity and energy over long ranges.

This makes it an ideal choice for shooters who need to hit targets at distances of up to 1,000 yards or more.

The 7 SAUM also has a relatively high muzzle velocity,

which helps to reduce the amount of time that the bullet spends in flight.

This, in turn, reduces the amount of time that external factors

(such as wind, temperature, and humidity) can affect the flight path of the bullet.

The result is a more p

recise and accurate shot.

Reloading 7 SAUM Brass

Reloading 7 SAUM brass can be a complex and time-consuming process, but it can also be a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

The first step in reloading 7 SAUM brass is to clean and inspect the brass to ensure that it is in good condition.

Once the brass has been inspected, it must be resized to ensure that it will fit properly in the rifle chamber.

The next step is to add the primer to the brass. This is typically done using a hand primer or a press-mounted primer.

Once the primer has been added, the brass can be filled with powder and the bullet can be seated.

It is important to carefully measure the amount of powder that is used, as too much or too little powder

can affect the accuracy and performance of the cartridge.

Applications of 7 SAUM Brass

7 SAUM brass has a variety of potential applications, including long-range hunting and competition shooting.

The cartridge is particularly useful for hunters who need to take down game at long distances,

as it has the power and accuracy necessary to make clean kills. It is also popular among competitive

shooters who need to hit targets at long ranges.

Conclusion

In conclusion, 7 SAUM brass is a high-performance cartridge that provides consistent and accurate performance.

Its high ballistic coefficient, muzzle velocity, and long-range accuracy make it an attractive choice for long-range shooters.

While the process of reloading 7 SAUM brass can be complex and time-consuming,

it can also be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Whether you are a long-range hunter or a competion

  1. Vanammo

oaded all up thee flash hole was larger than my old empties but I just enlarged the old to match and all functioned flawlessly

  2. Vanammo

  3. Vanammo

As far as I am concerned, this is about the best brass you can buy.

  4. Vanammo

Very good reloading brass at a great price. I shoot cowboy action and reload all my ammo. I have not had any trouble at all from this product.

  5. Vanammo

I load this brass with black powder for fast draw blanks. I also use them with just a primer and a wax bullet.

  6. Vanammo

They worked out great. Primers seated perfectly and did not seem to back out.

  7. Vanammo

Very Pleased and would buy again. Already on their 2nd loading with no noticeable wear. Did have to resize all out of the bag however, I do that with all new brass.

  8. Vanammo

Pro’s: Load CFDA loads with wax bullets. Brass is great. Flash hole is perfect to keep primers from backing out on these loads. Con’s: A few cases has crinkles in the end that will not come out with full length resizing. You have to use a round wood dowel on a hard surface to round out these cases in order to use them. This is time consuming. However they are the only ones producing 45 colt cases that I can find with oversize flash holes for use with blanks so I will continue to purchase them. Need just a little more quality control to get a 5 star rating and be perfect.

  9. Vanammo

i will buy this product again

  10. Vanammo
