Overview

winchester expedition big game long range by Winchester ammunition combines the absolute highest quality components into an extremely accurate and devastating hunting load. Available in several different calibers to meet the demands of predator, big game, and dangerous game hunters.

AccuBond represents the most advanced bonded core bullet technology to date. Through a proprietary bonding process that eliminates voids in the bullet core, AccuBond marries Nosler’s traditional copper-alloy jacket with its special lead-alloy core. The result is a bullet that flies true, penetrates deep, won’t cause extensive barrel fouling, and will retain 60-70% of its weight. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer primed, reloadable brass cases.

  1. Vanammo

This was one of three ammo types purchase for my .338WM in 2008. Along with DT and A-Square loadings at the heavier 250 grn rounds. All have proven to be consistently accurate. I have experienced rounds that have had tips broken due to Winchester/Olin use of styrofoam holders. I notice no decrease in accuracy at 100yds. which technically makes the round a PP/FP cartridge. Since this loading is most used for my range, target and hunting I can attest to a unvaried performance environment. I would however suggest that Winchester/Olin change to newer and much more secure cartridge holders at their cost per round… P.S. Hey Winchester a higher BC .338 240-250 grn AccuBond round would be great!

  2. Vanammo

This round dropped a Caribou in it’s tracks at over 325 yrds. The Bull was hit in the chest cavity and looked like it was hit by a Mack truck. It also had the same affect on a bull moose shot at 78 yrds. Rifle is a Weatherby Vanguard, zeroed at 200 meters. I am getting about 1 1/2 inch groups but I am sure there is a little human error thrown in there. Great round, no complaints.

In my very fickle SAKO 338 Win Mag this ammo gives me 3/4″ groups at 100m when I sort each cartridge for run out. The ones with the smallest run out I use for hunting between 0.03″ to 0.06″. The ones above this, some up to 0.12″, I use for practice and to verify my zero. Last December I shot a big cow elk through the head at 295 yards. With my SAKO and this ammo I have the confidence to aim for a clean miss or an instant kill. I have been reloading for 35 years and after many loads this rifle has never given me groups less than 1 3/4″ at 100m. Interestingly the bullet didn’t expand at all just a clean shot right through the head almost from ear to ear. I just hate paying that much for ammo. Very good ammo.

I could not wait to try these, but what a disappointment. I read the other reviews but thought perhaps Winchester had corrected the issues, but it appears not. First off I knew there would be trouble when I realized the gray coating on the bullets (not from Nosler) was just falling off, like from you fingernail, so how could this do anything good at 2800ish feet per second, other than just act as a barrel clogger. Either way about every 1 out of 3 bullets was an extreme flier, like 2-3 inches at 100 yards. I will update this if my opinion changes because this was a new gun, but it’s not logical that after the flier the grouping would return to sub moa, for 2-3 shots. I was waiting several minutes between every shot. I was VERY disappointed because I thought this could be an elk round, perhaps at zoo cage distances. The Nosler accubond is the standard from Nosler or when hand loaded, these are a F-!

  5. Vanammo

Brought two boxes to the range to sight in a new rifle. The first box had horrible groups – I was trying to figure it out when I noticed most of the plastic ballistic tips had been damaged or melted and were clinging to the inside of the styrofoam (factory box). The second box did not exhibit this defect, but either due to my fatigue after shooting 20 rounds from the bench, the ammo or the rifle (a Tikka T3 – known for good accuracy), I was unable to produce satisfactory groups with this second box either. I have used Accubond bullets in other ammo and had acceptable (though never stellar) groups. No idea when in the process from manufacture to my receiving it the tips melted, but I am not encouraged). Time to move on to a different manufacturer…
